Sacred Heart Catholic Church

Sacred Heart Catholic Church earns a place at #1 among Spanish-speaking churches in Oklahoma City because it has spent more than a century adapting its south-side campus to the families who actually fill the pews. First Mass was celebrated here in 1911; as the neighborhood became a Hispanic Catholic center, the parish built a Spanish-first worship life with weekday evening Masses in Spanish, weekend Spanish liturgies, regular confession, and long Thursday adoration while still offering early English Mass for bilingual households. That pastoral reach is backed by bilingual clergy, catechesis, and Sacred Heart Catholic School (Pre-K through eighth grade), so formation does not stop at Sunday. Growth once forced Mass into a gymnasium; the parish’s later home at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine gave a packed Spanish-speaking community a sacred space large enough for the sacraments without abandoning the historic Shartel campus for school, daily prayer, and religious education.
